Foshee Construction is performing the civil work for a new multi-family project located in Clermont, Florida. The project broke ground in the fall of 2023 and consisted of 114,192 SF of residences and is expected to be complete late 2025.
The site work includes extensive preparation and infrastructure development, such as excavating 449,792 cubic yards of earth, installing 13 sanitary sewer manholes, installing 2,688 LF of sanitary sewer pipe, 1,115 LF of force main and a lift station, 66 precast storm structures, 6,375 LF of various sizes of storm pipe between 18”-30”, potable water pipe of 5,144 LF, installing Class V fire protection 903 LF, installing secondary drainage with 42 yard drains, 181 roof drains and 5,775 LF of pipe, paving system of 27, 205 SY that includes asphalt paving, limerock base, 39,874 SF of concrete paving, 12,659 LF of curb & 44 handicap ramps, striping and signage.
The project presented challenges, with extensive retaining walls throughout and dealing with topography issues that were easily overcome by our crews.
End Purpose or Community Impact
→ Why does this project matter? Who benefits? This was a high-end project and it’s going to be expensive to live here, so not sure how to “benefit” that other than to wealthy folks (which we do not want to say that of course), the only benefit is that Clermont needs housing, which this will provide.
Key Challenges and Solutions
→ More detail about how you overcame topography and retaining wall issues. Did you use any unique engineering methods or sequencing? Not really, just good ole fashioned dirt moving and proper scheduling.
Team or Subcontractor Collaboration
→ Any partners or subs involved? Did collaboration play a role in the success? We did have subcontractors, but again I would not list them as our competitors will steal them away . Subs were just on Asphalt paving, sidewalks and curbing.
